EXCELLENCE, SIMPLICITY AND CONSISTENCY
A convivial culinary workshop where East meets West with refined simplicity. The pioneer of counter dining in the West.
Conceived by the chef who returned his Michelin stars and travelled for the first time, in search of Eastern culinary Inspiration. With the opening of the first L’Atelier, Joël Robuchon re-wrote the rulebook for modern hospitality.
About Us
Joël Robuchon founded the first L’Atelier (meaning a workshop) in Paris in 2003. A contemporary concept, born from significant travel in the East discovering culinary techniques which, at the time, did not exist in Western cuisine. Ironically, having handed back his Michelin stars in 1995 at the age of 50, with a desire to leave his kitchen for the first time in over 3 decades, Joël Robuchon later became the most Michelin starred chef in the world with his new concept, L’Atelier. His philosophy, still honoured today by Group Executive Chef David Alvez who worked directly with Joël for 22 years, was to have the confidence to have only core ingredients on the plate, cooked to perfection, combining Eastern and Western culinary techniques.
